A transport component for a carefully built itinerary

Travel agencies and tour operators often organise a programme that begins at Munich Airport and continues through Bavaria, Tirol or Salzburg. Transport is one part of that product: passengers may have staggered flights, hotel changes, scheduled sightseeing and a final return to the airport. Silverhound accepts tailored group-transport enquiries for the road movements within that itinerary.

This page focuses on transport for an agency-managed tour, not accommodation, tickets or a complete holiday package. An agency can share its day-by-day programme, passenger numbers, luggage needs and preferred vehicle category so the transport element can be assessed. For the wider agency service overview see Travel Agencies.

Where an itinerary crosses from Germany into Austria, exact pickup points, border legs, loading arrangements and the overall driver schedule matter. A useful first request gives actual addresses and dates rather than only country names.

From single transfers to multi-day coach programmes

A programme may require Munich Airport pickup, a day in the Bavarian Alpine foothills, an onward transfer to Innsbruck, a stop in Salzburg and later departure arrangements. These are illustrations of the type of routing an agency might request, not fixed departures sold by Silverhound.

For multi-day touring, the group organiser should set out each hotel, visiting window, overnight base and the intended amount of vehicle availability. The transport quotation then needs to address feasible daily movement, driver rest periods, parking and the agreed scope of service. It should not assume that a coach can remain available without limitations.

What agencies should include in an initial brief

  • Day-by-day routing, travel dates, hotels and precise pickup/drop-off addresses.
  • Passengers per departure, luggage count, any mobility requirements and preferred vehicle category.
  • Airport flight details, possible arrival waves and group leader contact arrangements.
  • Expected touring hours, visits requiring timed entry and likely additional stops.
  • Who organises sightseeing admissions, guides, meals and hotel rooms; the transport quote should clearly separate inclusions and exclusions.

Plan passenger access, not only the kilometres

An itinerary involving Salzburg Old Town must allow for the city’s coach terminal and advance booking arrangements for passenger drop-off and collection; ordinary hotel visits can be subject to different access rules. For Neuschwanstein, group coaches do not drive to the castle entrance. Those details influence where a coach can legally stop and where guests continue on foot or by local transfer.

Summer scenery and winter sports can produce different baggage patterns. For example, an Alpine hiking group may travel with large cases and outdoor gear, while winter parties may bring ski bags. A Mercedes minibus, Mercedes-Benz V-Class or Setra coach can be assessed depending on the request; luggage space and availability are not assumed from seat counts.

Build continuity into a multi-country group trip

Agencies benefit when changes to flight times, hotel arrangements or daily stop sequences are identified early. Submit the current programme revision, note which stops are essential, and flag where a late running day would affect another service. The operational proposal can then state what is included and what still needs confirmation.

For a concrete example read our Bavaria and Austria multi-day transport planning guide. Groups arriving for summer experiences can also explore summer Alpine group transport from Munich. Request a tailored transport quotation with the full routing rather than relying on a generic per-day price.

Two itinerary constraints agencies should build in early

Salzburg Old Town: the city requires advance booking of a coach terminal time slot for group drop-off and pickup at its Nonntal or Paris-Lodron terminals; a general “drive to the Old Town” instruction is not sufficient. The official Salzburg coach terminal FAQ explains the reservation and access rules. Fees and available slots may change; verify them before confirming an itinerary.

Neuschwanstein: the last coach parking is in Hohenschwangau, not at the castle entrance. The Bavarian Palace Administration states that visitors continue on foot or by separate local options; its official visitor guidance explains the access limitations. Do not equate private coach arrival with castle-door access.

Example of a transport-ready agency handover

  • Each travel day: date, starting hotel, full stop addresses, activity start times and final overnight address.
  • Restricted visits: Salzburg terminal reservation responsibility; Hohenschwangau transfer between coach parking and attraction.
  • Passengers: group size, group-leader contact, mobility requirements and baggage count for every hotel change.
  • Transport scope: identify road transport, waiting periods and requested driver/vehicle continuity separately from attractions, tickets, guides and accommodation.

This is a planning framework for an agency's own itinerary, not a claim that any permit, admission or all-day vehicle availability is included.

Verified planning facts and organiser decisions

Salzburg Old Town has designated coach passenger terminals with a booking system for drop-off and pickup time slots.

A multi-day agency programme should separate reserved sightseeing entrances, hotel loading, coach passenger terminals and overnight positioning. In Salzburg, hotel stops and Old Town access may follow different rules. Provide the travel-agent itinerary as dated individual coach movements, not only a list of cities.

Information to include in your enquiry: Daily itinerary, dates, hotel addresses, timed stops, passengers, luggage and coordinator.

Official reference: Salzburg official group-coach access (checked 22 October 2026; verify rules again for the date of travel).

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell full holidays to agency customers?

This page concerns the road transport component of a programme organised by the agency. Hotels, guides and entry tickets are not automatically included.

Can one request cover Germany and Austria?

Yes. Send the complete itinerary, dates, passenger and luggage counts, and requested movements for individual assessment.

Can the same coach be available all day on a multi-day trip?

Vehicle availability, working hours and driver rest rules must be reviewed in the specific transport proposal. Do not assume unlimited daily use.
